Boat & Yacht Party Sound Checklist for Dubai and Abu Dhabi
By the AcidWaves team · 14 October 2026
A yacht party is one of the best ways to celebrate in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, and one of the trickiest to plan sound for. Space is tight, power is limited and everything has to be ready before the boat leaves the marina. Run through this checklist before you book speakers, DJ gear or lights.
1. The boat and the deck
Ask the charter company for the boat's size and a photo of the deck. Where will guests spend most of the time? Is there a covered area for the DJ? Knowing the layout lets us choose speakers that fit without blocking walkways, and place them where the guests actually are.
2. Power on board
Most yachts have power on board, but the number of sockets and how much they can handle varies. Ask the charter company before the day. If there isn't suitable power, battery speakers such as the Soundboks 4 are the answer: no cables, no generator.
3. Timing and access
Equipment has to be loaded and tested before guests board. Share the marina, the berth, the boarding time and the return time, and check whether there's a loading area. Plan for the setup to happen before your guests arrive.
4. The captain's rules
Some charter companies have rules on volume, DJ equipment or where gear can go. Check with them in advance so there are no surprises on board.
5. Weather, humidity and spray
Evenings on the water can be humid and breezy. Keep the DJ setup under cover where possible and away from spray.
6. Lighting after sunset
Compact LED lights transform a deck after dark. Fog is tricky on open decks because the wind carries it away, and it can trigger smoke detectors in the cabins, so check with the crew before adding a fog machine.
7. A DJ or a playlist?
For a smaller boat, a Bluetooth speaker and your own playlist can be enough. For a bigger party, a DJ with an all-in-one DJ system keeps the energy right from departure to the last song. You can book a DJ with us.
Typical yacht setups
- Small boat, up to about 15 guests: one Soundboks 4 played from a phone.
- Mid-size yacht, 20 to 50 guests: two PA speakers and a subwoofer (if there's power on board) with an XDJ-RX3 for the DJ.
- Large yacht: a speaker and subwoofer package, a DJ and LED lighting.
Every boat is different, so treat these as a starting point. Send us the boat details, the marina and the times on WhatsApp, or read more about our boat and yacht party rentals.
