Which DJ Setup Should You Rent? All-in-One vs CDJs and Mixer
By the AcidWaves team · 14 October 2026
Renting DJ equipment comes down to one choice: an all-in-one system, or separate players and a mixer. Both play the same music from the same USB drives; the difference is space, flexibility and what the DJ expects to find. Here's how to choose.
All-in-one DJ systems
An all-in-one puts two or four decks, the mixer and the screen in a single unit. It is compact, quick to set up and ideal for house parties, yachts and hosts who want to play themselves.
- Pioneer XDJ-RX3: two channels and a big 10.1-inch touchscreen. The easiest place to start.
- Pioneer XDJ-XZ: four channels with full-size jog wheels, closer to the feel of a club setup.
- Pioneer OPUS-QUAD: four channels in a refined design that looks good where the DJ is part of the décor, like weddings and lounges.
- Pioneer XDJ-RX2: a dependable two-channel system for simpler setups.
Separate players and mixer (the club setup)
Two CDJ-3000 players with a DJM-V10 or DJM-A9 mixer is what you'll find in most club booths, and what professional DJs usually ask for in their rider. Separate units give more control, make back-to-back sets easier and let you add a third player or effects.
- DJM-V10: six channels, a 4-band EQ and two headphone outputs, great for back-to-back DJs.
- DJM-A9: four channels with a Bluetooth input, handy for warm-up music from a phone.
- CDJ-2000NXS2 + DJM-900NXS2: the previous club standard, still a solid professional choice.
Our DJ packages combine two players and a mixer, cabled and tested.
Turntables and vinyl
For vinyl sets, Technics SL-1210MK7 turntables are the reference. You'll need a DJ mixer with phono inputs; tell us your setup and we'll match the right mixer.
Which one for your event?
| Your event | What we'd suggest |

| Professional DJ booked | 2x CDJ-3000 + DJM-V10 or DJM-A9 (check the DJ's rider) |
| Two DJs going back to back | 2x CDJ-3000 + DJM-V10, for its two headphone outputs |
| Wedding or lounge where the setup is on show | OPUS-QUAD with a DJ booth |
| Vinyl set | 2x Technics SL-1210MK7 + a mixer with phono inputs |
Will it work with my music?
All our Pioneer DJ players and all-in-one systems play USB drives prepared in rekordbox. The XDJ-RX3 and XDJ-XZ also work with rekordbox and Serato DJ Pro on a laptop. If you use another software, let us know and we'll confirm what works.
Don't forget
- Headphones if the DJ doesn't bring their own.
- Speakers: DJ gear needs a sound system. See our speaker size guide.
- A DJ booth to hide cables and give the DJ the right working height.
